• Oduor’s appointment comes after a Cabinet reshuffle that saw the former Attorney General handed the Public Service docket.

Dorcas Oduor has been sworn in as Kenya’s new Attorney General. Her appointment makes history since she is Kenya’s first female Attorney General.

She has vowed to uphold the Constitution and remain faithful to the country. She has also promised to undertake her roles with honour and respect as she serves the people.

“I Dorcas Agik Oduor, being appointed as the Attorney General of Kenya do swear that I will always be faithful to the Republic of Kenya, I will obey, uphold and respect this Constitution of Kenya and other laws of the Republic. I will truly serve the people in the office of the Attorney General with honor and dignity,” she said.

Oduor has over 30 years of experience in law.

President William Ruto has expressed confidence in Oduor, saying she did not get the position because she is a woman but because she is competent.

“Many people have said you are the first woman in independent Kenya to become Attorney General. This appointment is not just about you being a woman; it’s about you being competent. I am very confident that on account confidence and ability to deliver, you deserve to serve in this position,” Ruto said.

Oduor’s appointment comes after a Cabinet reshuffle that saw the former Attorney General, Justin Muturi, handed the Public Service docket.
