On his official Twitter Account, Dr. Miguna Miguna reiterated that with avoidance of any doubt he has applied for the position of Director of Public Prosecution.

@MigunaMiguna

For the avoidance of any doubt, YES, I have applied for the position of The Director of Public Prosecutions. Cheers.

This comes after the position was declared vacant after the ouster of Former Director of Public Prosecution Noordin Haji who was nominated by President William as the next director-general of the National Intelligence Service (NIS).

Mr. Haji, a former top officer at the spy agency, replaced Major-General (Rtd) Philip Kameru. Maj-Gen Kameru has been the top spymaster since 2014 and is set to retire.

Miguna, known for his abrasive politics, promised that he would undertake his mandate fairly and go after suspects accused of breaking the law.

“Only criminals need to fear me,” he announced.

According to the Constitution of Kenya 2010, the DPP directs the Inspector-General of the National Police Service (NPS) to investigate any allegations of criminal conduct.
