The High Court is set to deliver its verdict on former TV news anchor Jackie Maribe and her ex-fiancé Jowie Irungu regarding the murder of businesswoman Monica on February 9, 2024.

Initially set for March 15, 2024, the judgment date was moved by mutual agreement of the involved parties. Trial Judge Grace Nzioka commenced delivering the extensive 500-page decision at 9 am.

Jowie is the primary defendant in the trial for the murder of Monica, charged alongside Jacque Maribe back in 2018. Monica's body was discovered at her apartment in Lamuria Gardens on Kitale Lane, near Denis Pritt Road in Kilimani.

Despite both Jowie and Maribe denying any connection to Monica or involvement in her death, the prosecution has presented 35 witnesses whose testimonies suggest otherwise. Assistant DPP Gikui Gichuki believes the evidence presented in court is strong enough to secure their conviction.

Regarding the Kevin Kangethe case, a Milimani court is set to provide further instructions. Kangethe, currently evading authorities, was initially held at Muthaiga police station while awaiting a ruling on his potential extradition.

He faces a first-degree murder charge related to the death of Margaret Mbitu on October 31, 2023. Massachusetts State Police reported that Kangethe left Mbitu's body in a car at Logan International Airport before fleeing to Kenya in early November 2023.

Massachusetts authorities collaborated with Kenyan officials to track down Kangethe, leading to his arrest in a nightclub on January 30, 2024 after three months on the run.

Kangethe had relinquished his U.S. citizenship, triggering the extradition process. The court granted a 30-day detention period while considering the extradition request, a step unnecessary if he retained U.S. citizenship.

On February 2, 2024, prosecutor Vincent Monda requested the court to endorse the U.S. warrant for Kangethe's arrest and provide guidance for the extradition proceedings.

Kangethe's lawyer sought instructions on extraditing him to the U.S. and objected to his ongoing detention, citing his rights. Chief Magistrate Lucas Onyina will provide further instructions on the case and address any bond or bail applications today.
