The Cabinet Secretary (CS) for Health Aden Duale has announced the closure of 35 health facilities found guilty of defrauding the Social Health Authority (SHA). He has also issued a stern warning to others engaging in malpractice.

The CS has urged the public to report suspicious activities, particularly dual billing, via the 24/7 SHA hotline at 147.

"To enhance awareness and expedite Taifa Care registration, I pledge to communicate SHA benefits in local and simplified languages," Duale stated.

Duale was speaking during a public forum at KCB Grounds in Kajiado on June 30, 2025. The CS has reaffirmed the government’s commitment to achieving Universal Health Coverage (UHC) through equitable and affordable care.

He also highlighted ongoing efforts to equip public hospitals under the National Equipment Service Program.

Moreover, the CS commended Kajiado County for enrolling 431,259 residents—39% of the local population—into Taifa Care. He has encouraged continued registration to realize the dream of UHC for every household.

The forum was attended by Kajiado County Governor Joseph Ole Lenku, Director General for Health Dr. Patrick Amoth, SHA CEO Dr. Mercy Mwangangi, KMPDC CEO Dr. David Kariuki, and Acting CEO of the Digital Health Agency Mr. Anthony Lenaiyara.
