Bayern Munich moved one step closer to Club World Cup glory on Sunday night with a 4–2 victory over Brazil’s Flamengo at Hard Rock Stadium in Miami Gardens.

The German champions surged into the quarterfinals and now prepare for a highly anticipated showdown against Paris Saint-Germain.

The match opened frantically, with Bayern capitalizing on Flamengo’s early nerves.

Just six minutes in, a corner kick from Joshua Kimmich led to an own goal by Flamengo’s Erick Pulgar, handing the Bavarians an immediate lead.

Three minutes later, Harry Kane doubled the advantage with a long-range effort that deflected past the goalkeeper, putting Bayern firmly in command before the ten-minute mark.

Flamengo, however, showed resilience. In the 33rd minute, Gerson pulled one back for the Brazilian side with a powerful strike that beat Manuel Neuer, cutting the deficit to 2–1.

But Bayern responded swiftly—Leon Goretzka restored their two-goal cushion before halftime with a driven shot into the bottom corner.

The second half brought more drama. Flamengo earned a penalty just before the hour after Michael Olise handled the ball inside the box.

Jorginho converted from the spot to bring Flamengo within striking distance at 3–2. For a brief spell, the match appeared to be hanging in the balance.

But once again, Harry Kane stepped up. The English striker sealed the result in the 73rd minute with a composed finish following a flowing team move.

It was his second goal of the night and a continuation of his red-hot form in front of goal.

Though Flamengo fought bravely, especially in the second half, Bayern’s early dominance and clinical edge proved decisive. Kane’s brace, along with a steady midfield showing from Kimmich and Goretzka, highlighted the German side’s quality.

Flamengo struggled defensively in key moments, and their early errors ultimately cost them any chance of progressing.

After the match, Bayern manager Vincent Kompany praised his team’s aggressive start and consistent pressure. “We set the tone early and executed well,” he said. “Flamengo is a strong side, but we showed the kind of intensity and control we need going forward.”

Flamengo boss Filipe Luís acknowledged the early setback’s impact. “That opening goal really knocked us back,” he said. “We tried to recover and showed character, but Bayern punished every mistake.”

With the win, Bayern sets up a quarterfinal clash with PSG—another European heavyweight and a familiar rival on the continental stage. For Flamengo, the exit ends a spirited run, though their attacking flashes offered glimpses of promise.

Ultimately, Bayern’s fast start and Kane’s killer instinct were the difference, as the six-time European champions took another confident step in their Club World Cup campaign.
