- The Social Protection Bill was first introduced to the Senate on May 13, 2025. In line with Standing Order 145(5), the Senate Committee is required to facilitate public participation and consider community input in its report.
The Senate of Kenya is inviting members of the public to submit their views on the Social Protection Bill 2025 through written memoranda.
This Bill aims to establish a comprehensive framework for non-contributory social protection interventions in Kenya and to create the National Board for Social Protection, which will coordinate these efforts.
Interested individuals can submit their memoranda via mail to the Clerk of the Senate at PO Box 41842-00100, Nairobi, or in person at the Main Parliament Buildings.
Additionally, submissions can be made via email to [email protected] , with a copy sent to [email protected].
All memoranda must be received by Thursday, June 5, 2025, at 5:00 PM. Following this, the Senate Committee will conduct a public hearing on the Bill on Thursday, June 12, 2025, at 11:00 AM in the Mini Chamber, First Floor, County Hall, Parliament Buildings, Nairobi.
