This nationwide public participation is set for 5th- 7th May 2025. The National Assembly notifies the public and stakeholders of public participation on the Constitution of Kenya (Amendment) Bill No. 4 of 2025.

One of the key benefits of public participation is that it enhances social cohesion and inclusivity. By creating a platform where the citizen can voice ideas and opinions on matters of the nation, the government allows for more balanced and fair development.

The National Assembly (NA) has called out all Kenyan citizens who wish to have a say on the National Government Constituencies Fund (NG-CDF), the Senate Oversight Fund and the National Government Affirmative Action Fund (NGAAF) in the Constitution.

This nationwide public participation is set for 5th- 7th May 2025. The National Assembly notifies the public and stakeholders of public participation on the Constitution of Kenya (Amendment) Bill No. 4 of 2025.

According to the NA, the Bill seeks to amend the Constitution to entrench the National Government Constituencies Fund, the Senate Oversight Fund, and the National Government Affirmative Action Fund in the Constitution.

The National Government Constituencies Fund (NG-CDF) was initiated through the NG-CDF Act 2015 with an objective of improving the socio-economic development of people at the constituency level, reduce poverty and enhance regional equity.

The Senate Oversight Fund aims to ensure the Senate is sufficiently empowered and resourced to carry out its oversight role, while the National Government Affirmative Action Fund empowers Affirmative Action groups such as women, youths, people with disabilities, vulnerable children and elderly persons.
