Kenya has been blessed with bold women who have continued to venture into careers previously seen as a preserve of men.

According to a Kenya Wildlife Service Post on Facebook on September 28, 2023, the service has been highlighted. It is delighted to announce that one of their own, Betty Jerono, has become the first Kenyan Lady to acquire the Gyrocopter License.

“Join us in celebrating her as she soars to new heights, protecting Kenya's natural treasures with grace and skill, “the post stated.

“Soaring Above the Rest, The First Lady in Kenya to acquire a Gyrocopter License.

Meet Betty Jerono, a true pioneer and trailblazer! Betty is the first woman in Kenya to hold a Gyrocopter pilot's license.“

The post went on to quote.

“In June 2020, Rubani Jerono embarked on an incredible journey with the Kenya Wildlife Service (KWS) as a trainee pilot, carrying her dreams high above the clouds. Her vision? To safeguard our breathtaking wildlife and protected areas from a unique vantage point.

Betty's pursuit of excellence took her to the picturesque landscapes of Scotland, where she underwent an intensive 3-month training program at Highland Aviation.

As a licensed Gyrocopter pilot, Betty is the first lady pilot in KWS! She is a vital part of the KWS team, using this remarkable aircraft to assist in routine monitoring, surveillance, and management of Kenya's precious wildlife. “

Gyrocopters, they say, are low-flying aircraft that assist in wildlife surveillance in protected areas.

In the aviation field, our women have been breaking the glass ceiling and dominating the skies, inspiring young ones who wish to join the profession.

Betty Jerono's journey is a testament to the power of determination, passion, and breaking barriers.
