- "We have received a number of complaints from the people claiming that since they elected us into office in various wards last year, they have not observed any development projects being conducted in their wards or completing activities for the stalled projects. Because we are not performing, they have threatened to hold demonstrations. The use of county funds in various administrative wards cannot be supported by our governor. Instead, he has proven to be conceited, claiming that because he is in command of the county, our threats to impeach him would not deter him, " MCA Duke claimed.
The Nyamira county legislators, led by Duke Masira, MCA for Nyamira Township Ward and Leader of the Majority in the County Assembly, have come out to claim that they are unable to tolerate the amount of corruption practiced by Governor Amos Nyaribo.
The MCAs announced that they will present the impeachment resolution against Governor Amos Nyaribo before the assembly on Tuesday, September 26, 2023.
"We have received a number of complaints from the people claiming that since they elected us into office in various wards last year, they have not observed any development projects being conducted in their wards or completing activities for the stalled projects. Because we are not performing, they have threatened to hold demonstrations. The use of county funds in various administrative wards cannot be supported by our governor. Instead, he has proven to be conceited, claiming that because he is in command of the county, our threats to impeach him would not deter him, " Duke claimed.
The MCA's led by Duke claim that they want a leader who is development-conscious and can help our county stand out in the implementation of the development projects for its people, who are taxpayers like any other Kenyan.
"A small number of Members of the County Assembly are objecting our plan, but I'm sure those in support will carry the day," he said.
In order for the Clerk of the Assembly to create an order paper for the Governor's impeachment motion, MCA for Kiabonyoru Ward, Vincent Benecha confirmed that they had gathered 28 of the required 34 signatures.
"Any impediment or anyone who would stop us from carrying out this mission legitimately assigned to us by our Constitution will undoubtedly be dealt with in accordance with the law," Benecha said.
He further stated that they have been mandated with legislative and supervision obligations.
Nominated MCA Abigael Matini said they could not be intimidated by any bribery to stop their course because it is the helpless common citizen who is suffering and it is the duty of their leaders to fight for their rights because all we want is to ensure that we have a leader who could perform in accordance to his/her oath of office.
