A team of detectives from the Homicide Investigations Bureau and the Crime Research and Intelligence Bureau (CRIB) has successfully apprehended three prime suspects linked to the brutal murder of Richard Otieno Haga, known as the "Molo President." The murder incident occurred on January 18, 2025, in Elburgon.
According to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) on X, the suspects—Peter Oketch, alias DJ IO; Joseph Kihara Kariuki, alias Jose; and Evans Aseka Okututi—have been forensically connected to the crime scene. “Investigations revealed that they were transported from Molo to Elburgon to carry out the heinous act,” said the DCI on X. Other suspects remain at large as investigations continue.
In a bid to evade capture, Oketch and Kariuki fled to Majahida in Bariadi District, Tanzania, shortly after the incident. However, with Tanzanian authorities closing in, the duo returned to Kenya on February 21, 2025, where they were promptly apprehended.
