The National Youth Service has announced the recruitment of Volunteer NYS Servicemen and women that will take place throughout the country from Monday, February 10, 2025 to February 15, 2025.
Interested candidates wishing to enlist must be Kenyan and reside within the respective Sub County of recruitment. Those between the ages of 18 and 24 are eligible for recruitment.
Other requirements include:
1. Candidates must have a mean Grade of D plain and above in KCSE.
2. Produce original National Identity Card, Academic Certificates (and avail one set of photocopies of the same at the recruitment centre.)

3. Must have certificate of Good Conduct.
4. Must be ready to undergo medical checkup during and after the recruitment exercise.
5. Be prepared to undergo rigorous physical training.
6. Be prepared to give voluntary service to the nation in any part of the Republic of Kenya.

It is important to note that orphans who meet the qualification requirements will be given special preference subject to production and sufficient documentary proof like parents’ death certificates or burial permits.
Persons with disabilities are also encouraged to avail themselves, provided they are able to withstand the rigorous physical training. Those with demonstrated sports skills will also be considered.
Furthermore, NYS has warned against corruption cases saying, “Canvasing and giving monetary or other considerations for the purpose of admission is an offense which may lead to automatic disqualification and/or prosecution. Instances of this nature should be reported to the Commandant General on telephone number 020-2400129.”
