The phenomenal run by Mary Moraa to clinch gold in the Women's 800M at the World Athletics Championships in Budapest was a sight to behold as we got glued to the screens.

It was a moment of celebration as the Kenyan queen graced the stage with a tremendous victory in Budapest last evening.

This was her second championship medal after she was crowned Commonwealth 800m Champion and Olympic bronze medalist in Birmingham, in the Commonwealth Games 2022.

In her last commonwealth win, she was overwhelmed with tears as she recounted in a post while this year’s victory, dance was worth it.

Moraa who is a corporal now a “dance queen” as she is being referred to after a dance she did after the win, is a total orphan having lost her dad in 1991 and her mother in 1999.

She hails from Obwari village, Nyakumbati sub-location in Ichuni ward, Kisii County.

Kenya’s representation on the global stage saw the country being ranked at the first position in the African Continent with it being ranked fifth globally.

Every athlete who represented the country made a very remarkable performance in the tough competition and still brought victory to the nation, such great talents.

This good news was received well by the president himself, President William Ruto who commended the athletes for a job well done.
