- Flurasted 500 Injection is grouped as an anti-cancer medicine called 'antimetabolites' used by cancer patients to treat breast, colon, rectum, pancreatic and stomach/gastric cancer. Flurasted 500 Injection contains 'Fluorouracil', which interferes with the cancer cells' genetic material (DNA and RNA) growth. It kills cancer cells by preventing them to multiply and eventually killing them.
The Ministry of Health, through the Pharmacy and Poisons Board, has issued quarantine orders for Flurasted 500 Injection Batch No. HHP24017, manufactured by an Indian-based company called Halsted Pharma Private Company.
According to a statement released on the Ministry of Health X platform signed by Dr. Siyoi, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Food and Poisons Board, the quarantine was issued after complaints about the marker's appearance parameter.
"The quarantine order is being issued after a market complaint on the appearance parameter of the content," said Siyoi.
The Board has further urged all Pharmaceutical facilities, healthcare professionals, healthcare facilities and members of the public to stop further distribution, sale or usage of the affected batch.
"In light of this, the Board advises all pharmaceutical outlets, healthcare facilities and members of the public to quarantine the said product immediately and stop distribution, sale or usage of the affected batch," Siyoi noted.

The Board has urged the public to report any substandard medicine or drug-advanced reactions to the nearest health facility.
