In a significant step towards enhancing access to electricity in Taita Taveta County, President William Ruto has expressed his joy at connecting 87-year-old Drisilla Jumwa from Mwanguwi to the power grid. This connection is part of the broader Last Mile Electricity Connectivity Project, which aims to improve the quality of life for residents in rural areas.
“Delighted to have connected Drisilla to electricity as part of our efforts to scale up the Last Mile Electricity Connectivity Project,” Ruto stated, highlighting the government's commitment to ensuring that even the most remote households have access to power.
According to President Ruto, as part of this initiative, the government is investing Ksh 1.1 billion to connect 9,000 households across Taita Taveta County, with 900 beneficiaries specifically from Wundanyi Constituency. This project not only addresses the immediate need for electricity but also promotes sustainable development and renewable energy solutions within the region.
