The Kabarak University graduate became the talk of the internet after her speech on Tuesday, August 7, 2023, aroused reactions from Kenyans who felt that their cries had finally been aired by a brave girl who did not care what the world would say about it.

This was at a meeting at Eldoret City Hall, where Governor Bii and Senator Mandago organised a meeting with parents over the Canada and Finland student airlift program scandal.

Tough-talking Mercy took the county administration, including Governor Jonathan Bii, his deputy John Barorot and Senator Jackson Mandago, head-on over the scholarship saga.

“This girl addressing Mandago, Barorot and Chelilim on the Finland scam is why Gen Z makes me happy. They have no chills. I would want my children to question anything that doesn't feel right. She is very respectful too,” said one Twitter user who marvelled at the courage shown by the lady, Mercy Tarus.

Here are what Kenyans on Twitter had to say about the recent story on the Uasin Gishu Finland Scandal:

 @KamburaRacheal

Gen Z's, have been raised in a way to be free and heard, softly and gently, we don't fear anything and such is our strength. When conversations have been leading our brothers to depression, we will talk about everything!!! Power to the GEN Z

@MwicigCyrus

Many tears across the land don't even human conscience prick our leaders.

@MsalaE

Sisi, generation Z we question everything from religion to politics. It’s not business as usual. The wind of change is blowing across all of Africa. For any corrupt politicians, the writing is on the wall. Hakuna kuweka kiongozi kwa ROHO.

@cathychepko

Accountability, transparency and Integrity are crucial even as a parent. Lead by example.

@ChinjaUa

Damn! That moved me. Speaking truth to power should be the norm. When we all stand up, the jig is over for the oppressor. No wonder wanakonda because they can't sleep well at night even with their billions.

@002seismic_wave

This girl is hurting, 💔 but why do people - leaders choose to torture others (the people who entrust them with positions of power?
