The Mount Kenya region is one of the most important voting blocs that needs to ascend a presidential candidate to power in Kenya. Anyone with thoughts of being at the helm of the country's leadership cannot assume the region. A region that was once loving and in support of President William Ruto has turned defiant due to several issues, such as the proposed Finance Bill, which later escalated following the former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua's impeachment.

In the event, members of the opposition led by Kalonzo Musyoka were heroically welcomed, indicating a shift in political stand in the region. A region that contributed 47% of the total votes for the Kenya Kwanza government now turned defiant.
