He is set to contest against Djibouti Foreign Minister Mahmoud Ali Youssouf, former Mauritius Foreign Minister Anil Kumarsingh Gayan, and former Madagascar Foreign Minister Richard James Randriamandrato.

On August 15, 2024, Raila availed himself at DRC, where he was hosted by President Felix Tshisekedi. Upon holding a constructive discussion on foundational security, development, and climate change issues, he stated that he had earned a sign on the back from the Head of State.
“I met with DRC President Felix Tshisekedi today to discuss my AUC bid. Our conversation centered on the foundational issues of security, development, and climate change – essential for creating lasting prosperity and advancing our shared future. I thank him for his endorsement,” he stated.
Raila later, on August 17, 2024, set for the Republic of Congo, where he was received by President Sassou N’Guesso, who made time to converse about matters of security, development, and climate change, winning his support for the continental job.
“Grateful for the insightful meeting with President Denis Sassou N’Guesso of the Republic of the Congo as I advance my AUC bid. We discussed security, development, and climate change – vital to a prosperous and sustainable future. His endorsement strengthens our mission,” Odinga said.
