Saudi Arabia has suspended travel by its citizens to Kenya, stopped issuing all categories of visas to people arriving from Kenya and prohibited entry into Saudi Arabia for travelers coming from the country

The decision announced on Friday October 30 has raised concerns among Kenyans planning to travel to the Middle East for work, business and other personal activities

According to the announcement by Saudi Arabia authorities, the kingdom has suspended travel by it's citizens to Kenya, stopped issuing all categories of visas to people arriving from Kenya and prohibited entry into Saudi Arabia for travellers coming from the country

The restrictions also affect travellers using other countries as transit routes. Anyone who has stayed in Kenya or another country experiencing an active active Ebola outbreak within 21 days before arriving in Saudi Arabia is also affected

Saudi Arabia explained that the decision followed an assessment of the Ebola situation by it's health authorities

By October 30, Kenya had confirmed 9 cases and 2 deaths linked to the outbreak. The government has since intensified contact tracing, testing and monitoring of people who may have come into contact with infected patients

The kingdom had previously introduced similar restrictions involving the Democratic Republic of Congo, Uganda and South Sudan in June 2026

Travellers have been urged to follow official updates and confirm their travel opportunities in Saudi Arabia, particularly those who depend on the county for employment
