• I wanted to bring a taste of home,” Bien laughed, lifting the bird high as the crowd erupted in cheers. He then launched into an acoustic performance blending smooth Swahili melodies with Afrobeat, while the chicken calmly pecked at the pavement, instantly stealing hearts.

If you thought you’d seen everything on the streets of London, think again. Kenyan superstar Bien-Aimé Baraza of Sauti Sol just turned heads with one of the most unforgettable appearances yet — arriving at King’s Cross with a live chicken in hand.

Fans were already buzzing as DJ AG, the mastermind behind viral street sessions featuring Ed Sheeran, Will Smith, Rita Ora, Flavour, Demarco, and Diamond Platnumz, teased “an African surprise.” Out strolled Bien — sunglasses on, chicken tucked casually under his arm.

“I wanted to bring a taste of home,” Bien laughed, lifting the bird high as the crowd erupted in cheers. He then launched into an acoustic performance blending smooth Swahili melodies with Afrobeat, while the chicken calmly pecked at the pavement, instantly stealing hearts.

Social media lit up. Read one viral comment. “Kuku imefika UK mbele Yangu” meaning (The chicken has reached the UK before me.) Another fan posted, “This is the best cultural crossover ever.”

The timing couldn’t have been better. Bien is in Europe for his World Tour 2025, which will see him performing across the continent in some of the biggest music cities. The European leg includes shows in Paris (July 3), Hamburg (July 5), Amsterdam (July 7), Bristol (July 10), London (July 12), and Manchester (July 20).

Speaking at an interview, Bien explained the symbolism behind his feathery companion. “In Kenya, a chicken is more than dinner, it’s tradition, generosity, a way of saying ‘Karibu.’ I wanted London to feel that spirit.”

From Nairobi to London, Bien continues to prove that African music and culture have no borders. And next time, don’t be surprised if he brings a goat.
