The late Beth Wahito Njoroge, a prominent Member of the County Assembly (MCA) for Njabini-Kiburu in Nyandarua County, was a veteran politician whose influence spanned over three decades. Known for her visionary approach and transformative leadership, she dedicated her life to public service, leaving an indelible mark on her community.

Beth’s political journey began in the first County Assembly, where she made her mark as a counselor in the now-defunct Nyandarua County Council. Her commitment to her constituents was unwavering, and her passion for democracy was evident during the fight for multiparty politics in 1992, a pivotal moment that reshaped Kenya’s political landscape.

The shocking news was confirmed by Nyandarua County Assembly Speaker Stephen Wachira Waiganjo, who expressed deep sorrow, celebrating her exemplary leadership and extending condolences to her family. Beth Wahito was not just a leader; she was a mother, a guardian to five children, and a grandmother.

Her political career was marked by significant roles, including serving as the Youth Leader for the Democratic Party (DP), where she advocated for youth empowerment across the nation. Later, she became the Chairperson for the National Alliance Rainbow Coalition (NARC) in Nyandarua, championing democratic ideals such as the rule of law, social justice, and gender equity.

Following the promulgation of Kenya’s new constitution, she took on the role of Coordinator for the Jubilee Party in Kinangop Constituency, playing a crucial part in the election of a former senator from Nyandarua County. At the time of her passing, Hon. Beth was serving the people of Nyandarua as a specially elected Member of the Nyandarua County Assembly.

She held the position of Vice-Chairperson of the Health Services Committee and was an active member of several other committees, including the Members’ Welfare, Catering, and Library Committee, the Public Works, Roads, Transport, Housing, and Energy Committee, and the Special Funds Accounts Committee.

Additionally, she was the Coordinator for the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) in Kinangop, further cementing her dedication to public service and community welfare.
