• Salasya eyes 2027 presidential in recent post on X and he as promised to focus on issues that are most urgent to Kenyans.

Mumias East Member of Parliament Peter Salasya has announced his ambitions for the 2027 presidential election. In a recent post on X, he has pledged to focus on the most pressing issues for Kenyans.

Salasya aims to prioritize industrialization, manufacturing, and job creation for youth. He believes that by expanding the private sector, particularly in real estate through lowering the costs of cement and steel, he can make Kenya’s private sector more vibrant and competitive on the global stage.

He envisions positioning Kenya as an exporter rather than an importer. Additionally, he has committed to developing strategies to enhance the healthcare system to attract foreign exchange.

"My plan will be grounded in practical solutions, as I am an economist with classroom experience. I will ensure that the cost of production is lowered by simplifying electricity costs, taxation, and the bureaucracy of doing business," he stated.

However, Salasya acknowledges that the success of these plans will depend on detailed implementation strategies, especially given current economic constraints like high debt and limited fiscal space.

Providing practical solutions to overcome barriers such as high lending rates and weak private sector credit would further strengthen his vision.

Born in 1989, Salasya was recognized as an outstanding student leader during his studies. His outspoken advocacy for national issues led him to run for the Mumias East parliamentary seat twice, winning in 2022.
