Kabarak’s outreach extends regionally as well. A mission led by Vice Chancellor Prof. Henry Kiplangat to Rwanda resulted in an MoU with Kigali Independent University (ULK) on May 12, 2025, fostering academic collaboration and research partnerships within the East African higher education landscape.
The university is also deeply committed to community engagement. Earlier this year, it hosted a successful Health Awareness Week focused on mental health and drug and substance abuse.
This initiative included both in reach and outreach activities, encouraging discussions on psychoeducation and mental wellness among students, staff, and the wider community.
On March 20, the Health Awareness Week expanded to the Rafiki community, involving diverse stakeholders such as local business owners and community leaders. This collaborative effort aimed to address drug and alcohol abuse through education.
A team from the National Authority for the Campaign Against Alcohol and Drug Abuse (NACADA) played a vital role in informing community members about the effects of substance abuse and available resources.
The impact of these collaborations is already evident. On May 7, 2025, Kabarak University excelled at the 24th Chinese Bridge Competition in Kenya.
Ivy Irene Maina represented the university, showcasing her proficiency in the Chinese language and captivating the audience with a traditional dance, reflecting Kabarak’s commitment to cultural exchange.
In 2024, Kabarak University furthered its global outreach by signing an MoU with Nanjing Agricultural University in China, aimed at enhancing language and cultural exchange, as well as agricultural innovation.
Students actively participated in Chinese cultural events, including the Chinese Spring Festival held on February 11, 2025, in collaboration with the Confucius Institute at Egerton University.
Kabarak University Vice Chancellor (VC), Professor Henry Kiplangat articulated the institution's vision of offering education with a strong focus on quality and impactful partnerships during a forum at NTV in 2024.
“You can pursue a degree program from Kabarak University from the comfort of your home, at your own pace. We have students from various continents, including the US, Europe, and Asia. Our goal is to create the Harvard of Africa at Kabarak University," the VC stated.
