Abel Mutua, better known as Mkurugenzi (director), owns several hats within the entertainment field. He is a stand-up comedian, part hype man, part voice actor, and the new wave in traditional African and worldwide storytelling.

Mutua has created an impressive fanbase of Wakurugenzi (directors), spreading across Kenya, East Africa, and the larger diaspora.

Taking a few steps back, he attracted the public eye in 2007 when he joined Citizen TV’s popular drama series Tahidi High. Mutua’s acting career took an inclined motion thanks to his commitment, passion and motivation.

COVID-19 was an eye-opener to this icon, as this is the moment he acquired the realization that he could share his compelling stories with a larger audience, courtesy of his wife (Bi Mkurugenzi).
