August 13 every year is celebrated internationally as Left-Handers Day. This day has evoked several reactions from various social media platforms. Historically, being left-handed was often disapproved of. Our parents greatly disputed the use of the left hand during childhood to prevent their children from habitually using the left arm in eating, writing, and doing other chores.

Despite the association of bad lack and other negative connotations attached to the use of the left arm, today is celebrated as International Left-Handers Day to appreciate their immense uniqueness.

Among the left-handers are the famous philosophers, leaders, and wealthiest humans. The list includes Albert Einstein, Barack Obama, Aristotle, and Napoleon Bonaparte, and the list is endless.

Left-handed people comprise 10-12 per cent of the world's population. They use the brain's right hemisphere, which appeals to creativity. They are greatly affected by negative emotions such as anxiety and anger.

Additionally, they exhibit higher IQs. Most of them have IQs over 140 compared to right-handed people. Albert Einstein, Isaac Newton, Benjamin Franklin, and Charles Darwin are examples of people from that class.

The Left-Handers International Day was first launched in 1992 by the Left-Handers Club, formed in 1990. The Club aimed to keep members abreast of developments, communicate their views to manufacturers and others, provide a help and advice line, promote research into left-handedness, and develop new left-handed items.

Since its formation, the Club has grown with members worldwide and is the most influential pressure group and advice centre dealing with all aspects of left-handedness.

The Left-Handend-International Day is celebrated worldwide, but it has been more prominent in the United Kingdom (UK), where more than 20 regional events of this nature have taken place in the past years.

From the official site for the Left-Handers, they have sent word to all family and friends depicting how proud they are to be among the left-handed people in the world.

Also, they have welcomed everyone to the 32nd annual Left Handers Day!

“August 13 is an opportunity to inform your friends and family how proud you are being left-handed and raise awareness on the daily issues that those left-handed encounter as they live in a world meant for right-handers."

They have wished everyone a happy Left Handed Day and wish to disseminate more information about this unique group to raise awareness.
