The White House has released a statement as concerns over incumbent American President Joe Biden’s health continue to rise. This follows a resurfaced video, showing him frozen and lost in thought for a few minutes as people around him dance in celebratory mood.

The video, taken at the Juneteenth event, has hit the nets again, following the recent presidential debate, ahead of the November 5 poll. A debate that has seen Biden lose 49-43 against Trump, according to a recent CNN poll.

Many have expressed their concerns online, calling Biden’s frozen moment, ‘the dementia stare’ and proposing that he step out of the November presidential race. Biden has however said he will not abandon his campaign, in a phone interview with MSNBC.

A report of visitor logs by the New York Times showed that a doctor specializing in Parkinson's had visited the Whitehouse at least eight times between August 2023 and March 2024.

Dr Kevin O’connor, the Whitehouse doctor, has responded to the logs, saying that the visits were part of neurological clinics for active duty members assigned to support Whitehouse operations, and that Biden had not seen a neurologist outside his annual physical examination.

The White House, though its press secretary, Karine Jean-Pierre, has released a statement denying speculative claims that Biden has been suffering from Parkinson's.

“I can tell you this, just going back to Parkinson's to give you some answers. Has the president been treated for Parkinson's, No. Is he being treated for Parkinson's, No. Is he taking medication for Parkinson's, No. Those are the things I can give you full blown answers on. The president has had a comprehensive physical examination, and every year that he has to have this exam, he sees a neurologist and just to give you a quote from the report most recently in February, an extremely detailed neurological exam, was again reassuring there were no findings which would be consistent with any cerebellum or other central neurological disorders such as a stroke, multiple Sclerosis, Parkinson's or ascending lateral Sclerosis,” She said in a statement on July 8, 2024.

Some democrats however, still believe that Biden is unfit to stand for office again and have insisted that the party nominate alternative candidates, including incumbent Vice President Kamala Harris, to run against Trump.
