• Eligible students selected for the internship will receive a stipend from MCK during the three-month attachment period.

The Media Council of Kenya (MCK) is currently accepting applications from students studying communications and media for the May-July 2024 cohort of their industrial attachment program.

According to the statement released on March 23, 2024, the program is a collaborative effort with recognized media houses. It offers students the opportunity to gain hands-on experience before graduation.

The program is open for students seeking to proceed with industrial attachment from May to July.

“The Media Council of Kenya in partnership with recognized media houses runs media industrial attachment program which is geared towards providing journalism/media students with practical work experience before graduation and to prepare them for the job market,” the statement read in part.

Eligible students selected for the internship will receive a stipend from MCK during the three-month attachment period. Applicants must be final-year students from a recognized university or college to be considered for the program.

They must also have a recommendation letter from their institution specifying the preferred duration of the placement.

Furthermore, applicants must hold a valid registration for the Industrial Attachment unit at their respective university or college. Academic transcripts for the current academic year, a valid Student Identification Card, and a valid MCK Student Press Card for 2024 are also mandatory.

The Media Council of Kenya emphasized that selected students will be placed in recognized media outlets nationwide. The internship opportunities are available in various areas of specialization, including Print, Broadcast Radio/Television, Technical/Production, and Digital media.

In addition to the application requirements, aspiring interns must submit samples of their journalistic work, including online content, school projects, and other relevant support work.

Interested students are encouraged to apply by submitting all the requirements through the online portal provided by the Media Council of Kenya at https://mediacouncil.or.ke/opportunities/careers.
