- Starting June 2024, Kenyan creators on Facebook and Instagram will be able to receive their monetization revenue directly through M-Pesa.
President William Ruto has announced a groundbreaking partnership with Meta, the parent company of Facebook and Instagram.
This collaboration is set to revolutionize how Kenyan digital creators are compensated for their content.
Starting June 2024, Kenyan creators on Facebook and Instagram will be able to receive their monetization revenue directly through M-Pesa.
This initiative addresses the challenge of accessible financial instruments to receive payments.
“Monetization revenue disbursements will be processed via M-Pesa, which is more accessible and convenient for all,” stated President Ruto during a meeting with Meta officials and Kenyan content creators.
The president emphasized that this move aligns with the country’s Bottom-Up Economic Transformation agenda, aiming to provide every Kenyan with the opportunity to earn an income and transform their lives.
Meta’s monetization tools, including Instream Ads, Instagram Gifts, and Facebook Stars, will be available to eligible creators who meet specific criteria, such as follower count and content engagement.
This development not only empowers creators financially but also encourages the production of quality content that resonates with audiences both locally and globally.
