- Maribe failed to appear in court, claiming that she was on her way to the hospital.
Former Citizen TV news anchor Jacque Maribe, one of the suspects in the murder of businesswoman Monica Kimani, has failed to appear in court claiming illness.
Monica Kimani was killed in her apartment in Kilimani in September 2018.
The other suspect is Joseph Irungu alias Jowie, who was Maribe’s fiancé at the time of the crime.
The two were charged with murder in October 2018 and have been on trial since then. The prosecution has presented over 40 witnesses and various pieces of evidence to link them to the crime scene, while the defence has challenged the credibility and validity of the prosecution’s case.
The High Court was expected to deliver its judgment on the case on January 26, 2024, after several postponements. However, Maribe failed to appear in court, claiming that she was on her way to the hospital.

The judge, Justice Grace Nzioka, ordered that Maribe be produced in court for the ruling, and adjourned the case to March 15, 2024.
The judge’s order has sparked mixed reactions from the public, with some expressing sympathy for Maribe’s health condition, and others accusing her of delaying justice for the victim’s family.

Jacque Maribe is playing a game here.
@clairecesc
How can it be just to postpone until March 15th because one party is sick while the victim is no more? Why not reschedule by two days or one week or even order that Maribe shows up in Court on a hospital bed, stretcher, wheelchair, or whatever is appropriate for her like we saw prominent figures like the late Mwiraria with a terminal illness take plea in a hospital bed...

The circus continues.

Justice delayed is justice denied.
The case is attracting nationwide attention, as it involves high-profile personalities and a gruesome murder.
