- President Ruto openly endorsed Kiharu MP as his potential successor in 2032, diverging from the current deputy president.
The power struggle between Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua and Kiharu MP Ndindi Nyoro intensified over the weekend, causing a significant rift within the ruling Kenya Kwanza coalition.
The Nyoro faction seemed to initiate hostilities on Saturday, January 20, 2024, during a funeral in Kericho County.
President Ruto openly endorsed Kiharu MP as his potential successor in 2032, diverging from the current deputy president.
Speaking at the burial of the late Kipkemei Chereng’eti, father of Sigowet-Soin MP Justice Kemei, Belgut MP Nelson Koech encouraged Nyoro to engage with people across the country, indicating that Kenyans would determine his political fate when the time arrives.
Koech advised Nyoro to embark on a nationwide tour, similar to his previous efforts in constituencies like Belgut and Sigowet-Soin, where development initiatives and community engagement were actively pursued during the 2022 presidential campaign for William Ruto.

By consistently delivering tangible results and connecting with the people, Kenyans would ultimately recognize Nyoro's contributions, potentially leading to a more substantial political role or reward in the future.
"When we see you're doing well, what's the issue? The same people who prayed for Ruto will assess your words," he declared.
Emurua Dikirr MP Johanna Ng’eno supported these sentiments, emphasizing the importance of planning for the future and encouraging Ndindi to organize himself while allowing others in their region to make similar preparations.
"In 2027, our current leaders will still be around, but in 2032, the future is uncertain for all of us. I might also be there and could support this young man, Ndindi. Therefore, I urge you to protect him. When you encounter him, assist him and ensure he is cared for," he said.
In what seemed like a carefully orchestrated campaign to enhance Nyoro's standing, Konoin MP Brighton Yegon highlighted the Kiharu lawmaker's impressive development track record, positioning him as a standout candidate in the Ruto succession race.
