• The suspects, identified as Vincent Ochieng, Shadrack Ochieng, Felix Otieno, Salim Ali, and Shafi Yusuf, were captured on a video displaying stolen items.

In a successful intelligence-led operation, a team of officers from the Central Police Station in Mombasa has apprehended five individuals believed to be members of an organized criminal group operating in the Sargoi area and its surrounding neighbourhoods.

The suspects, identified as Vincent Ochieng, Shadrack Ochieng, Felix Otieno, Salim Ali, and Shafi Yusuf, were captured on a video displaying stolen items.

The arrest followed the discovery of a video where the suspects can be seen flaunting the stolen goods while making provocative statements.

One of them can be heard saying, "We are in business; just DM us," as they flash what appears to be a stolen phone.

Another suspect interjects, "The owner of this ID should come for it. There's another one who left us his coat, and it had his car keys." The third suspect adds, "Come for your Ksh.50 coat; we cannot stay with it. It even had lice on it."

During the operation, law enforcement officers recovered several items that were seen in the video recording, including a navy blue jacket, three iPhones, a Samsung phone, a Memojo phone, and a Bluetooth headphone.

These items are believed to have been stolen from their victims.

The suspects also warned those planning to attend an upcoming event scheduled for December 31, 2023 cautioning them not to bring valuable belongings.

They specifically mentioned Christina Shusho's concert, urging attendees to be bold and bring expensive phones.

The five suspects have been processed and are awaiting arraignment.
