During the tour of the county, the deputy president stopped by a Cheborge home to evaluate the success of the recently introduced Universal Health Promoters program. "Most households cannot afford the high costs of quality healthcare. Because many Kenyans lack access to healthcare insurance, serious health concerns are plunging families into extreme poverty.

Actually, out of the roughly 53 million people, only about 26 percent had health insurance. For most families, poverty is an unavoidable consequence of a significant medical condition. Human dignity is taken away by poverty. Thus, progress is slowed down," DP Rigathi Gachagua stated.
