Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna has expressed deep discontent with the current administration, asserting that he cannot support a regime he believes is undermining the livelihoods of Kenyans.
Speaking on February 20, 2025, on Citizen TV’s Daybreak Show with Trevor Ombija, Sifuna made it clear that he has no intention of voting for President William Ruto in the upcoming 2027 elections.
“I will not vote for Ruto in 2027. I cannot support a regime that has destroyed lives, our economy, and is killing our people,” Sifuna declared. He has emphasized the importance of individual choice in the electoral process, urging Kenyans to cast their ballots according to their conscience. “Let everyone make their choice. Let everyone cast their ballot and live with their conscience,” he added.
Sifuna has reflected on his political journey, noting that the positions held by politicians are not permanent. “I have done seven years as Secretary General of ODM; this is my eighth year. I did not do the seven years by second guessing Raila. I know the man, I speak to him, he is my mentor,” he stated. He reiterated that his commitment to the party and its leadership is rooted in shared values and a mutual vision for the future.
The senator underscored that his role is not a birthright, emphasizing, “The position of Senator of Nairobi is not my birthright. There will come a day when there will be another senator.”
