A Kenyan on X has posted after claims of criminal activities connected with economic sabotage in South Africa’s Johannesburg has proven to be possible.

So how did this hijack incident start?

According to a report by Reuters, since the end of apartheid in 1994, the housing crisis in Johannesburg worsened as big businesses moved from the inner city to wealthy suburbs.

In the 1990s and 2000s, criminal syndicates began to "hijack" buildings that were left empty and rented out illegally.

Those blocks quickly became dilapidated centers of drug crime and other illegal activities.

Land grabbing has been on the rise in most cities for decades with efforts to solve proving futile.

Some claim the building hijacking scenario is a way to correct economic apartheid that is brought about by politicians who build story houses but later give them up due to criminal activities, but the same criminals take over and rent to other people for money, crazy right?
