Nakuru Town West Constituency is one among the 11 constituencies comprising to form Nakuru County. It was curved out of the former Nakuru Town constituency by splitting the constituency to form Nakuru Town West constituency and Nakuru West constituencies in 2010 under the new constitution. The constituency is largely urban and cosmopolitan, with residents from different ethnic communities including Kikuyu, Kalenjin, Luo, Luhya, Kisii, and Kamba communities. Because of this diversity, politics in Nakuru Town West is usually competitive and coalition-based.

Trade and Commerce
Kaptembwo and London wards host vibrant open-air markets, wholesale shops, and retail outlets. Informal trade (hawking, kiosks) is widespread, especially in densely populated estates. Also, some projects including the Free Area Market and urban economic growth have also been initiated.
The NG-CDF in Nakuru West Constituency has invested in education through the disbursement of secondary school bursary and tertiary institutions. Also the construction of classrooms and school facilities.

The voting behavior in Nakuru Town Constituency usually aligns with the dominant parties nationally. This is shown as MP is elected first on the TNA party, and MCA were elected (4 out of 6) are from the UDA party, which was one of the formidable parties in Kenya then. Also, the MP was elected in 2017 through the Jubilee Party, which was the ruling party, and again in 2022. It implies that candidates associated with the government of the day are often supported by the voters.
