Throwback Thursday, or #TBT was first started on Instagram in 2011. Since then, it has become a cherished weekly ritual, offering everyone a chance to dive into nostalgia and relive cherished moments from the past. What better way to celebrate this Throwback Thursday than by revisiting three iconic films that have left a long-lasting mark on cinematic history: The Notebook, Titanic, and Jurassic Park.

‘The Notebook’ (2004) is a story about endless romance that Nick Cassavetes directed it. The movie is based on Nicholas Sparks's bestselling novel; the film follows the lives of Noah and Allie, starring Ryan Gosling and Rachel McAdams. The story is set in the 1940s, where the actors’ romance grows against social differences and family pressures.

Even though they come from very different backgrounds—Noah is a simple country boy, and Allie comes from a wealthy family—their love deepens. And although family pressures and social differences pull them apart, their love never truly fades.

Years later, fate brings them back together, and their emotions run high after realizing they will always love one another. The Notebook is a touching story that reminds people of how powerful true love can be, and it’s no wonder that it remains a favourite for so many people who enjoy romantic movies.

Second is the famous ‘Titanic’ which tells a story of romance and epic tragedy. Titanic (1997) remains one of the most-watched films in cinema. The film was directed by James Cameron directed it. Titanic is a historical drama and a moving love story.

Titanic narrates the story of Jack and Rose, the story is starred by Leonardo DiCaprio and Kate Winslet, who meet after boarding the luxurious RMS Titanic during its first sail. Jack is portrayed as a poor artist who wins a ticket that gets him to board the ship in a lucky game of cards, while Rose is a young woman trapped in a rich life and strict expectations. Their love story develops against the environment of one of the greatest disasters at sea in history.

The film shows the excitement and beauty of the “Great Titanic” before tragedy strikes when the ship hits an iceberg. Titanic is about more than just love—it’s also about bravery, loss, and the strength of the human spirit. Titanic has one of the greatest scenes and music, including Celine Dion’s emotional music- "My Heart Will Go On". Even to this day, Titanic remains famous.

Jurassic Park (1993), on the other hand, is a science fiction story. The story is directed by Steven Spielberg and is based on Michael Crichton’s novel, Jurassic Park. The story is set in Isla Nublar, an island where scientists have done the impossible—they’ve brought dinosaurs back to life through cloning. The park is meant to be an exciting tourist attraction, but things quickly go wrong.

When the security systems fail, the dinosaurs escape, and chaos arises. The film follows a group of visitors, including palaeontologists Alan Grant and Ellie Sattler, as they struggle to survive the dangerous island. Jurassic Park was epic in the 1900s because it used special effects and animatronics to bring the dinosaurs to life, which was new and unique.

This Throwback Thursday, revisiting these three films, reminds us why movies hold such a special place in our hearts.
